Free forever. Now in beta for macOS

Speak, and your Mac does the work.

Clarify is offline, push-to-talk dictation for your Mac. Hold a key, speak, let go, and clean text lands at your cursor. Today it also switches apps and runs your Shortcuts. Meeting transcripts come with Clarify Pro, and a fuller memory for what you copy is next, all on this Mac.

Apple silicon, macOS 14 or later. Free forever; now in beta. About 1.3 GB.

Speak, and it's written.

Hold Right ⌘ + Right ⌥, say what you mean, and let go. The ums fall away, punctuation arrives, and one clean paste lands at your cursor, in whatever app you're already using.

Start with "Quick note" and the thought is saved to your notes with the date. Say a snippet's name and get the longer text you saved, exactly.

  • In the beta Push-to-talk dictation in any app, with recognition and cleanup on your Mac
  • In the beta Spoken lists, checklists and new paragraphs
  • In the beta Quick notes and snippets
  • In the beta Your vocabulary: teach it names and terms in Settings
  • In the beta Correct the last dictation in one step
  • In the beta Fix grammar in selected text with Apple's on-device model, on Macs with Apple Intelligence
  • In the beta Formal, friendlier and shorter rewrites of selected text, with a model you connect (local or hosted)
  • Coming in v1 "Fix the grammar" by voice, in place, and "Scratch that" undoes the fix too
  • Coming in v1 A guide to connecting your own model, local or remote, for tone rewrites

Tell your Mac what comes next.

Say "Switch to Terminal" and it comes forward. Open and politely quit the apps you allow, and run your Shortcuts by name. Clarify only acts when the whole capture is a command, so a sentence that mentions an app stays a sentence.

Version 1 chains steps together, such as "Open Safari, then paste the clip," and reports honestly on each one. It also moves, snaps and closes windows, and handles screen commands like "click Send."

  • In the beta Switch to a running app, with your own nicknames for it
  • In the beta Open and politely quit the apps you allow
  • In the beta Run a named Apple Shortcut
  • In the beta Shortcuts that receive the words you spoke, run in the background
  • In the beta Ask Claude, ChatGPT or a search engine: your words open there, ready to send
  • In the beta "Press Return" to send, and "Scratch that" to undo the last dictation
  • Coming in v1 Chains of steps, with a result for each one
  • Coming in v1 Window control: close, minimize, snap and move
  • Coming in v1 Screen commands such as "click Send", using the app's own accessibility information
  • Coming in v1 Compose: think out loud, and get back a reply, a spec, a list or a commit message shaped to the app you're in
  • Coming in v1 Siri, Claude and coding agents can use Clarify through App Intents, a command-line tool and MCP
  • Coming in v1 Ask Clarify how to do something, answered from its own guide

Meetings, written down.

Listen, part of Clarify Pro, transcribes an audio or video file, or records a meeting from your microphone and the call's audio. It tells up to eight people apart and pulls out the action items. The recording and the transcript stay on your Mac. Listen is in the beta download, and Pro keys aren't on sale yet.

In our tests on public meeting recordings of about four people, 98.9% of words went to the right speaker.

  • Pro Transcribe a file with who said what, and pull out action items
  • Pro Record a meeting: your microphone and the call's audio
  • Pro Speaker detection for up to 8 people
  • Coming in v1 A clean transcript with named speakers, showing where each action item came from
  • Coming in v1 Live speaker labels during a call
  • Coming in v1 Tuned for meetings of 4 to 8 people, measured on real recordings

A memory for what you copy.

Save clips by name, or in slots 1 to 9, and paste them back by voice.

Version 1 keeps a searchable timeline of what you copy, only on your Mac and encrypted. Say "paste the last URL" and it's back at your cursor. It skips anything an app marks as concealed or transient, and you choose whether it keeps every copy or only what you add.

  • In the beta Named clips and slots 1 to 9: save what you selected or copied and paste it back by voice
  • In the beta Notes you can find again
  • Coming in v1 A searchable clipboard timeline, kept only on your Mac and encrypted
  • Coming in v1 Recall anything by voice, like "paste the last URL"
  • Coming in v1 You choose: every copy, or only what you add
  • Coming in v1 It leaves the clipboard exactly as your other tools expect it

Everything runs on this Mac.

Speech recognition, cleanup, voice actions and Listen's meeting transcripts run on your Mac, with the models inside the app. There's no account. Your speech and text never leave the Mac unless you choose a model of your own for rewriting. The only other request is a check for updates, which you start or switch on yourself. How offline dictation works in Clarify.

  • No account Nothing to sign up for, and nothing uploaded.
  • Free forever Clarify and its dictation are free, and speech recognition will never be a paid feature. Extra capabilities, like Listen, are Clarify Pro: one purchase, never a subscription.
  • Protected fields stay private In the beta Clarify never reads or writes text in password and other protected fields.
  • English, on Apple silicon Done well here first, before anything wider.

Coming in v1 Published proof: a no-network check during dictation and meetings, and measured speed figures.

Sees what you see

Reading the words on your screen, only when an action needs them, to spell names right and answer "what's this error?". Early tests look promising.

There are plenty of dictation apps. We're building the one that works your Mac.

Clarify is one of the first two tools from clarifyfor.me. The download is the current beta: dictation, notes, snippets, clips, grammar fixes and voice actions. Listen is in it too, for Clarify Pro; Pro keys aren't on sale yet. Clarify is free, and dictation always will be. During the beta we ask for one thing, honest feedback: where it works, where it gets in the way, and what you still correct by hand.

Beta means there are rough edges.

Check dates and consequential text before using it. Some date phrases inside longer sentences can still be misread.

Clarify needs separate Microphone, Input Monitoring, and Accessibility permissions to record, hear the shortcut, and paste. The first time you say "Run" with a shortcut's name, macOS also asks once whether Clarify may control Shortcuts.

The installer is signed, notarized, and stapled, but compatibility across every Mac and writing app is exactly what this beta needs to test.

justwrite Free beta

A quieter place to turn words into work.

Clarify gets the thought out of your head. justwrite is the focused, local Markdown writing app for shaping it—no permanent sidebar, no account, and no proprietary document format.

  • Your Markdown files stay on disk.
  • A keyboard palette finds documents and actions when you ask.
  • Typewriter and focus modes keep the current sentence in view.
